About this role
The PP Product Trader will develop, manage, and grow our trade in polypropylene (PP) and related petrochemical products. This role will focus on building strong supplier and customer relationships, expanding market share, and executing profitable trades across multiple geographies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in petrochemical trading, in-depth product knowledge, and a robust network within the PP and polymer markets.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage trading activities for polypropylene (PP) and related petrochemical products, including but not limited to:
PP Yarn Grades, LAMI Grades (Co-Polymer, LDPE Grades, etc. - Identify, negotiate, and execute spot and term contracts to maximize trading profitability.
- Maintain and grow supplier and customer relationships across Asia, Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
- Monitor global market trends, pricing, and competitor activities to inform trading strategies.
- Manage risk through appropriate contractual terms, hedging strategies, and credit control measures.
- Collaborate with shipping, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of trades.
- Participate in relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build market intelligence and relationships.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 5–7 years of proven experience in petrochemical trading, specifically in PP resin and polymer markets.
- Strong supplier and customer network in target geographies.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing profitable trades.
- Experience in managing risk and negotiating complex international contracts.
Skills:
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and market analysis capabilities.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards in trading practices.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus, especially for sourcing from Asia.
