About the Role
Due development of new mines, and internal promotions, we are seeking our next Underground Manager. Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Underground Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of underground operations to achieve safety, production and cost targets. Working a 4:3 FIFO roster, you will work closely with Technical Services and Underground Maintenance to ensure mining, maintenance and planning activities are aligned with the mine's short, medium and long-term requirements, while supporting the Company's broader strategic objectives and continued operational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe and compliant underground mining operations, fostering a strong safety culture and effective risk management.
- Oversee adherence to Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and undertake due diligence to monitor compliance and seek improvements
- Partner with Technical Services to deliver mine plans, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and Life of Mine strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee development, production and stopping performance to achieve targets, maximise recovery, minimise dilution, and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide operational leadership across mine planning, projects, ventilation, survey, geotechnical, and maintenance functions to optimise operational performance.
- Contribute to operational and capital planning, while reviewing and reporting performance against budget and production targets.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the underground mining team, building a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
Requirements
- To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- WA Underground First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency
- Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- WA Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency
- Current and unrestricted WA C Class Driver's Licence
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (St John WA or equivalent)
- Strong leadership experience in underground hard rock mining operations
- Previous experience in remnant underground mining will be held in high regard
- The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
- Sound knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
- Ability to prepare Budgets, Forecasts and Reports and demonstrate excellent analytical skills
