Underground Operator

Job Overview:

Job Summary:**

The Underground Operator at Primoris Services Corporation is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, and complete other tasks related to underground utility construction projects. This role requires adherence to all safety protocols and a strong understanding of construction plans and specifications.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Operate various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and dozers, for underground utility installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
* Dig trenches, excavate foundations, and prepare sites according to project plans and specifications.
* Backfill excavations, compact soil, and grade surfaces to required elevations.
* Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks and trailers.
* Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment, identifying and reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
* Conduct routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate execution of work.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other personnel on job sites.
* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Assist with other construction tasks as needed.

Job Qualifications:**

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

* CDL Preferred

* Must live near Austin, TX area
* Minimum of 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in an underground utility construction environment.
* Proven ability to safely and proficiently operate excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL Class A or B preferred.
* Knowledge of underground utility construction practices and procedures.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
* Strong understanding of trenching and excavation safety regulations.
* Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.
* Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous physical labor.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
