Veterinary Receptionist

Key Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients with a warm, professional, and compassionate approach
• Answer multi-line phones, schedule appointments, and manage appointment flow
• Obtain and update patient medical histories and client information
• Check clients in and out and process invoices and payments accurately
• Fill prescriptions and assist with food and over-the-counter product requests
• Communicate patient needs and client concerns with veterinarians and veterinary technicians
• Maintain accurate patient records and enter information into veterinary practice management software
• Assist clients with questions regarding appointments, services, medications, and hospital policies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
• Provide compassionate support to clients during routine visits, emergencies, and end-of-life experiences

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Previous veterinary reception, veterinary receptionist, veterinary client service, or veterinary hospital experience preferred but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable answering phones and assisting multiple clients in a busy environment
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn veterinary practice management software
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain professional in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working with dogs, cats, and other companion animals
• Compassionate, dependable, team-oriented, and willing to learn
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30–50 pounds when needed
