In this rewarding role, you will walk alongside whānau, helping them identify their aspirations, access the right support services, and build pathways towards greater wellbeing, independence, and self-determination. As a key point of contact for whānau engaging with our services, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring every whānau experiences high-quality, culturally grounded Whānau Ora support.

About the Role

As a Kaiwhakatere Navigator, you will:

• Engage and build trusting relationships with whānau and community members.
• Support whānau to identify their strengths, needs, goals, and aspirations.
• Develop and manage Whānau Ora plans that promote positive long-term outcomes.
• Connect whānau with appropriate internal and external support services.
• Monitor and track progress, ensuring meaningful outcomes are achieved.
• Collaborate with service providers, government agencies, iwi, hapū, and community organisations.
• Promote Whānau Ora principles across service delivery.
• Help strengthen organisational knowledge of local and regional support networks.
• Encourage whānau leadership, autonomy, and ownership of their wellbeing journey.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting whānau and has a genuine commitment to kaupapa Māori and Whānau Ora practice.

You will bring:

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience working with whānau, communities, hapū, and iwi.
• Strong relationship-building and engagement skills.
• Knowledge of social services, community support systems, and referral pathways.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and case management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong administration and reporting capabilities.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Social Services or a related field.
• Experience within Whānau Ora, health, social services, or community development sectors.
• Fluency or proficiency in Te Reo Māori.
