POSITION PURPOSE & EXPECTED OUTCOMES
To provide effective administrative and coordination support for the delivery of restorative justice services. The role works closely with facilitators, courts, community groups and other stakeholders to help services run smoothly, records are accurate, and contractual requirements are met.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The specific duties and responsibilities associated with Administrator duties include, but is not limited to:
- Provide day to day administration support for the restorative justice services.
- Coordinate restorative justice referrals, pre conferences, conferences and related appointments.
- Liaise professionally with facilitators, District Court staff, lawyers, Police, Ministry of Justice and community organisations.
- Attend court when required to receive or follow up referrals.
- Support facilitators with communication and coordination involving participants and relevant community services.
- Maintain accurate and timely client, referral and service records,
- Prepare correspondence, meeting minutes, reports and other documentation as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriately manage sensitive information.
- Assist with monitoring contractual requirements, reporting deadlines and service information.
- Help ensure work is completed within required timeframes and follow up outstanding actions.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, training and continuous improvement activities.
- Follow organisational policies and procedures, including health and safety, quality and risk requirements.
- Provide other reasonable administrative and service support as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Ideally, the successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience in administration, coordination, community services or a similar role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with whanau, colleagues and external agencies.
- Confidence in engaging with people from a range of backgrounds, including whanau who may be experiencing challenging circumstances.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Good computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- An understanding or willingness to learn about restorative justice and the justice and social services sectors.
- An understanding of and commitment to tikanga maori and culturally responsive practice.
- Confidence engaging appropriately on marae, and with kaumatua, kuia, whanau, hapu and iwi.
- Te Reo Maori capability would be advantageous or a willingness to learn.
- A current driver’s licence.
Cultural awareness and understanding
- Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for tikanga maori, Te Ao Maori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for the cultural values, beliefs and practices of the people accessing the service.
- Be comfortable participating in marae-based settings and Kaupapa maori environments.
- Show a willingness to continue developing their cultural knowledge and capability, including te reo maori.
