The Job

The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness, ensuring kitchen equipment is properly washed and stored, and assisting with basic food preparation tasks. This position helps keep the kitchen operating efficiently while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and organization.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment promptly and efficiently.

• Keep all kitchen areas clean, organized, and sanitized.

• Dispose of waste and recycling according to company procedures.

• Clean floors, walls, work surfaces, storage areas, and kitchen equipment.

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients.

• Receive and store deliveries, ensuring stock is rotated using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

• Restock kitchen supplies and cleaning materials as needed.

• Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely.

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.

• Report equipment faults, maintenance issues, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods with general kitchen duties.

• Follow all company policies and procedures while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

  Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or cleaning role is preferred but not essential.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

• Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and support the kitchen team.

• Good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.

• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures is an advantage.

• Living in or nearby Gibraltar

• Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
