(QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our New York City office, supporting our Securities Litigation & Regulation practice. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling securities litigation and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, and format legal documents, correspondence, and other case-related materials
- Assist with court filings and ensure compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, meetings, and other important deadlines
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files
- Monitor case progress and follow up on outstanding items to ensure deadlines are met
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
- Coordinate meetings, conference calls, and other attorney scheduling needs
- Assist with general administrative and legal support tasks as needed
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client and case information
Qualifications
- 2+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably supporting litigation attorneys
- Experience supporting securities litigation, commercial litigation, or complex civil litigation is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
- Ability to quickly learn new processes and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
