Manager, Communications (GSV)

About the Role

The Golden State Valkyries are looking for a Manager to lead communications strategy and execution for the business side of the organization. This role will work alongside our current Manager to own business strategy around our corporate partnerships, community communications, and PR. This role reports to the Senior Director, Communications.

This is a full-time position based onsite in Oakland, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deliver communications and PR strategy in support of business objectives, corporate partnerships, and community initiatives
• Partner closely with the corporate partnerships team to build PR and communications plans that support sponsor activations and partner storytelling
• Lead communications and storytelling for community programs and initiatives, including media outreach and materials
• Develop media materials including press releases, talking points, and briefing documents for announcements and executive speaking engagements
• Build and maintain relationships with local and national media covering business, sponsorship, and community stories
• Support executive and staff appearances at business and community events
• Staff events that players or coaches attend in the community
• Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications/Public Relations or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 years in PR/communications, storytelling, and project management, ideally in a sports, entertainment, or a corporate partnerships environment
• Experience supporting corporate partnerships, sponsorships, or business-side communications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Google Workspace
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across business and media
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Time Commitment

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and events as needed

Compensation

• $89,000 - $95,000 Per Year + Bonus
