Summary:
Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale solar power projects (30MW, 40MW, 50MW, and above). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar project construction, grid connection, EPC management, and commissioning, with a proven track record of working with local authorities and power utilities (TNB/SESB).
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Construction Execution:
- In conjunction with the Project Developer, lead and oversee the construction of large-scale solar power projects (ground mounted, 30MW, 40MW, 50MW, and above).
- Ensure on time, within budget, and worldclass project execution.
- Manage project schedules, risks, and resource allocation efficiently.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for smooth project delivery.
Grid Connection & Electrical Infrastructure:
- Manage and oversee grid connection of solar farms with MV/HV (132kV) transmission lines and Loop-In Loop-Out (LILO) arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with local grid codes and technical standards.
- Coordinate with TNB/SESB for successful testing, commissioning, and Commercial Operation Date (COD) achievement.
EPC Selection, Contract Negotiation & Management:
- In conjunction with the Project Developer, lead the selection of EPC contractors through evaluation of technical and commercial bids.
- In conjunction with the Project Developer, negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with EPCs, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage and monitor EPC performance, ensuring contract compliance and timely execution.
Regulatory & Permitting Coordination:
- Liaise with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and environmental agencies for
- permitting and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysia’s regulatory frameworks and local laws.
- Address and resolve permitting or regulatory challenges throughout project execution.
Testing, Commissioning & COD Coordination:
- Oversee the testing, commissioning, and energization of solar plants in coordination with EPC, consultants, and utilities.
- Ensure all technical documentation, compliance reports, and safety procedures are completed.
- Manage the process for final TNB/SESB approvals and secure COD.
HSSE
- Ensure safety is the priority at all work activities and strictly follow all HSSE
- Supervise and follow up to correct unsafe conditions and actions for safety in the work of employees as reported or as recommended by HSSE officer and/or HSSE committee.
Key Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in large-scale solar project management & construction.
- Proven experience managing large-scale solar power plants (30MW, 40MW, 50MW, and above).
- Expertise in grid connection projects (MV/HV 132kV, LILO).
- Strong understanding of EPC contracts, negotiations, and project execution.
- Hands-on experience in local permitting processes and regulatory compliance.
- Expertise in testing, commissioning, and COD coordination with TNB/SESB.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or equivalent.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.
Other Requirements:
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under strict deadlines.
