Paralegal – Family Law

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of Texas family law matters (divorce, custody, support, modifications, and related issues) from contract through resolution.
• Draft, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, orders, discovery, and correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and attention to local rules.
• Prepare and respond to discovery, including organizing, indexing, and summarizing financial and other sensitive documents.
• Coordinate and file documents via e‑filing and in person as needed, ensuring strict compliance with court rules, deadlines, and standing orders.
• Maintain and update case calendars, including hearings, deadlines, mediations, and client meetings, and proactively flag upcoming obligations for attorneys.
• Prepare hearing and trial materials, including notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, and demonstrative exhibits.
• Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner, keeping clients informed on case status.
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files so they are accurate, complete, and easy for the team to navigate.
• Assist with drafting and filing temporary orders, agreed orders, and final decrees, ensuring they accurately reflect negotiated terms.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and other team members to support case strategy, improve processes, and move matters forward efficiently.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Experience: At least 2+ years of dedicated Texas Family Law experience as a paralegal.
• Technical Mastery: Proficiency in E-Filing across various state court portals and staying current with local rules.
• Software Expert: Fluent in Clio/MyCase, Google Suite, and modern document management systems.
• Ethical Anchor: A professional who understands the line between legal information and legal advice and remains calm under the pressure of emotionally charged litigation.
• Team Leader: A self-starter capable of providing mentorship and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
