Principal Consultant EHS

At ERM, we help leading organisations navigate complex environmental, health, safety, risk, and sustainability challenges. As our EHS practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Principal Consultant EHS to support clients across the Netherlands.

This role is ideal for a senior EHS professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical problem-solving and trusted client advisory.

What You Will Do

You will work closely with industrial clients to improve EHS performance, strengthen risk management practices, and support safer, more resilient operations.

Your work will include:

• Leading EHS compliance and management system audits.
• Supporting operational risk management and safety improvement programmes.
• Delivering risk assessments, incident investigations, and hazard studies.
• Developing and implementing EHS management systems, standards, and procedures.
• Supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) and contractor management initiatives.
• Delivering safety leadership, behavioural safety, and safety culture programmes.
• Advising clients on the integration of EHS and sustainability objectives.
• Managing projects and building long-term client relationships.

As a Principal Consultant, you will also contribute to business development activities and help grow ERM's presence within the Dutch market.

What We Are Looking For

• BSc or MSc in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in EHS consulting and/or industrial operations.
• Strong experience in EHS auditing, compliance, operational risk management, and safety performance improvement.
• Ability to engage confidently with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
• Fluent Dutch and English.

Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), contractor management, safety leadership, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, or major hazard industries is highly valued.
