Principal SW Developer

At Y Soft, we’re shaping the next generation of RFID/NFC card readers for printers - redefining them as connected, remotely managed solutions. Our products are truly unique, seamlessly blending hardware and software, and are fully designed, developed, and manufactured in the Czech Republic.

We're looking for a Principal Software Developer to own the technical direction of software across our hardware products - someone who thrives on the hardest, most ambiguous problems and can take them all the way from a blank whiteboard to production.

What you´ll do:

• Own the software architecture and technical direction for a broad product area - not just a single feature or component.
• Lead design and delivery of the most complex, high-risk features and system integrations, including problems with no established precedent.
• Define and evolve the team's engineering standards, coding guidelines, and Definition of Done.
• Drive resolution of the team's hardest technical debt and cross-component quality issues.
• Guide troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on the toughest HW/SW integration issues — hands-on, and by mentoring others through them.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, and practices, weighing long-term maintainability against short-term gains.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, growing their ability to own complex work independently.

About you:

• Extensive, proven experience designing and delivering complex, distributed software systems, with deep expertise in .NET, Java, or Scala and cloud-native architecture.
• A track record of independently defining technical direction for large, ambiguous problems — not just executing someone else's design.
• Deep debugging and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to guide others through the hardest production and system-level issues.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure) and containerization (Docker), including hardware–software integration and validating system behavior at scale and across layers.
• Experience introducing engineering practices - CI/CD, testing, observability, tooling - that measurably improved a team's delivery quality.
• Strong grounding in QA best practices and the full software development lifecycle.
• Genuine interest in AI-assisted and agentic development practices, with curiosity to explore how these tools can reshape engineering workflows.
• Fluent Czech speaker, with English is a strong plus, and willing to come into our Prague office from time to time.
