POSITION SUMMARY
Seabird island is proud to offer the Summer Work Experience Program, the summer work experience program's
goal is to assist eligible students to prepare for future entry into job market. Program focuses on providing work experience and developmental learning for in-school youth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Keep an accurate record of your development and progress.
- Able to complete and follow tasks.
- Willingness & Eagerness to follow up on tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Appropriately exercises professional boundaries and communicates any conflicts of interest should they occur during the partnership.
- A person who likes to set goals and achieve them.
- Willing to learn, grow and ask appropriate questions.
- Always maintains confidentiality and integrity; does not discuss or share information outside of the relationship.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council.
WHAT YOU BRING
Skills & Experience
- Ability and willingness to provide services in a prompt, respectful and unbiased manner, in accordance with existing Seabird Island Band policies and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to learn computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
- Active listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Requirements
- Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information
Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc. - Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Participants must be a minimum of 15 years old and have a SIN Number.
- Must have a Bank account and a BC Services Card.
Reports to: Assigned Program Supervisor
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING
- Employment is conditional upon completing pre-employment screening to ensure a safe and secure work environment in which students, staff, members, families, community, as well as resources, and assets are protected. All background checks, reference checks and criminal record checks are performed in accordance with SIB HR Policy, protecting the integrity and confidentiality of information gathered during the evaluation.
