Quality Control Technician - Mechanical

A leading company in the satellite and space technology sector is seeking a Quality Control Technician – Mechanical to join its operations in Athens. The role focuses on performing visual and mechanical inspections and quality checks on components and subsystems used in advanced satellite systems, ensuring compliance with defined technical requirements and space-grade quality standards throughout the production lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual and mechanical inspections and quality checks on mechanical, composite, electronic and COTS components and subsystems, in accordance with established inspection plans and procedures.
• Perform dimensional and mechanical inspections using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and torque tools.
• Identify and report non-conformances (NCs), support root cause analysis activities, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions across production and supply chain operations.
• Review inspection results, maintain accurate quality records and update material status within ERP/MES systems, ensuring full traceability of inspected components.
• Ensure inspection tools and measurement equipment are properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with applicable quality requirements.
• Support quarantine and scrapping processes for non-conforming materials and ensure appropriate handling and segregation procedures are followed.
• Monitor production, inspection, logistics, storage and laboratory environments to ensure compliance with established safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Production, AIT Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain teams to identify defects early, prevent quality escapes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree or technical diploma in Mechanics, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in Quality Control or Inspection within aerospace, defense, high-reliability manufacturing, or a comparable technical production environment.
• Hands-on experience inspecting mechanical parts and using precision inspection and measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges and torque tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, tolerances, inspection plans and other manufacturing documentation.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, measurement principles, dimensional inspection and calibration requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify, document and communicate technical deviations and non-conformances effectively.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Production, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain teams.
• Good command of spoken and written English; previous experience with composite parts and composite manufacturing processes would be considered an advantage.
