The Senior Reconciliation Officer is responsible for managing the bank’s entire reconciliation environment, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of reconciliations across cash, securities, nostro/vostro, suspense accounts, pension accounts, and internal control accounts (transit/clearing accounts).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconciliation Management
- Oversee daily and other periodic (monthly and weekly) reconciliations across bank accounts, nostro/vostro accounts, suspense, transit/clearing accounts, pension funds, and security positions.
- Ensure reconciliations are completed T+1 (daily) and T+7 (monthly) and T+3 (weekly) depending on regulatory requirements.
Break Resolution
- Investigate and resolve breaks within prescribed SOPs
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring breaks and recommend permanent solutions.
- Support and lead backlog elimination using automated tools (GTMatch and system scripts).
Data Governance & Reporting
- Validate the accuracy of data feeds between Olympic, GTMatch, system scripts/queries, custodians, and ledger systems.
- Provide reconciliation dashboards and exception reports.
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for internal and external audits.
Controls & Risk Management
- Enhance the reconciliation control environment using preventive and detective controls.
- Ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory reconciliation guidelines.
- Participate in control testing and audit remediation efforts.
Leadership
- Train staff on reconciliation processes and system usage.
- Review reconciliations prepared by junior officers and sign off.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Accounting or related field
- Up to 7 years of experience in operations, specifically reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Client service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
