Software Development Test Engineer

Work Arrangement / Work Shift: Remote / Day Shift (Australia Shift)

Role Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Development Test Engineer Level 1 who is passionate about quality engineering and automation testing. This role is ideal for someone early in their testing career who wants to develop strong automation skills while working alongside experienced engineers.

As a Software Development Test Engineer Level 1, you will be responsible for validating new features, creating automated test cases, identifying defects early in the development lifecycle, and helping improve the overall quality of our platform.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Developers, and QA team members to ensure reliable and scalable releases across web, mobile, and backend services.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Functional Testing

• Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Create and execute test cases for new features.

• Perform exploratory, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing support.

• Validate web, mobile, and API functionality.

• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.

Test Automation

• Develop and maintain automated test suites.

• Build automated UI tests for web applications.

• Build automated API tests for backend services.

• Assist in automating mobile application testing.

• Improve test coverage and reduce manual regression effort.

Quality Engineering

• Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with developers to reproduce and troubleshoot issues.

• Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing.

• Help establish quality standards and testing best practices.

• Contribute to release readiness activities.

Documentation

• Create and maintain test plans and test execution reports.

• Document testing processes and automation frameworks.

• Maintain test data and testing environments.

What You’ll Need:

• 2–5 years of software testing experience.

• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

• Experience testing web applications.

• Understanding of REST APIs and API testing concepts.

• Basic SQL knowledge and ability to query databases.

• Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What Will Set You Apart:

• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.

• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.

• Exposure to automation frameworks.

• Experience testing mobile applications.

• Familiarity with Git version control.

• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines.

• Exposure to AWS environments.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with React, React Native, NextJS, or Node.js applications.

• Experience with PostgreSQL databases.

• Familiarity with Jest, Supertest, or similar testing frameworks.

• Knowledge of performance and load testing concepts.

• Understanding of security testing fundamentals.

Desired Automation Tooling Experience
