Supply / Substitute Teacher (K–12)

Position Overview

Dakar Academy is seeking qualified and flexible Supply/Substitute Teachers to support our K–12 Christian learning environment. Substitute teachers are responsible for maintaining continuity of instruction, fostering a positive classroom atmosphere, and upholding the school’s mission and values in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher across various grade levels (K–12).
• Maintain a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
• Supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Adapt to different classroom settings, subjects, and student needs with flexibility.
• Manage classroom behavior in a manner consistent with school policies and Christian values.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
• Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any notable incidents.
• Perform basic administrative duties such as attendance and classroom organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Education or related field preferred).
• Prior teaching or classroom experience is highly desirable.
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new environments and follow lesson plans effectively.
• Proficiency in English (instruction is in English).
• Alignment with the school’s Christian mission and values.

Working Conditions

• On-call position with varying hours depending on need.
