The Client Relationship Officer, Private Banking provides high-touch service as the primary day-to-day contact for clients (excluding Discretionary Managed and Trust). The role coordinates client instructions, supports Advisors with execution requests, leads onboarding and account maintenance, and drives digital adoption while meeting SLAs and regulatory requirements.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients; respond to enquiries via phone, email, and secure messaging within agreed SLAs; provide timely updates and follow-through until resolution.
  • Coordinate and relay or receive client instructions to Traders/Execution teams as required; track request progress, escalate bottlenecks, and close the loop with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Advisors on client requests including subscriptions, purchases, and sales of securities; ensure requests are captured accurately and routed to the appropriate teams for processing.
  • Draft, review, and distribute client communications (e.g., service updates, requests for documentation, confirmations and follow-ups) in line with Bank tone, confidentiality, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Lead the onboarding process and ongoing account maintenance for clients (excluding Trust and Discretionary Managed); coordinate across Compliance and Operations to ensure KYC/AML documentation is accurate, complete, and approved within required timelines; maintain onboarding checklists, track progress, and guide clients on required documents and next steps.
  • Drive digital onboarding and improve client usage of digital channels (e.g., secure messaging, online portal/app); provide guidance and troubleshooting support and capture feedback to improve client experience.
  • Adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements, including privacy, suitability, KYC/AML, and record retention; escalate issues, complaints, and operational risks in accordance with procedures.
  • Maintain accurate client service records and work queues; monitor outstanding items, reconcile instructions, and support periodic reporting on service volumes, turnaround times, and client experience.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in an associated role
  • Knowledge of banking and finance industry preferred
  • Series 7 Certification an asset
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong adherence to professional standards and confidentiality
  • Continued professional education to retain accounting credentials required
