Ecologist / Environmental Scientist – LATAM

Join Earth Systems to help deliver biodiversity protection and ecosystem restoration across Latin America and worldwide.
We’re seeking an Ecologist / Environmental Scientist to support our Earth Repair and Sustainability projects as part of the new LATAM hub in Medellín.

You’ll work on ecological impact assessments, biodiversity surveys, habitat restoration, and carbon-offset projects in Colombia, the wider LATAM region, and global assignments, collaborating with our international teams to deliver science-based solutions that protect habitats and advance sustainability.

About the Role

You will:

• Undertake ecological and environmental baseline assessments for forestry, agriculture, and restoration projects
• Lead or support flora/fauna surveys, habitat assessments, and offset studies
• Assist with restoration projects that deliver carbon sequestration and biodiversity benefits
• Provide technical inputs and help manage ecology components of consulting projects
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for diverse stakeholders in English and Spanish
• Collaborate with colleagues worldwide to deliver high-quality ecosystem outcomes

Your Skills & Background

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Forestry, or related field
  
• Specialist skills in botany, ornithology, herpetology, or other relevant discipline
• Experience in ecological surveys, impact assessments, or restoration project
  
• Fluent Spanish and strong English communication skills (written & spoken) – essential for working with global teams
• Willingness to travel across LATAM and occasionally internationally
• Collaborative, proactive, and passionate about biodiversity and ecosystem restoration

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with international EIA frameworks (IFC, IUCN, Equator Principles)
• GIS skills (QGIS/ArcGIS)
• Experience with carbon projects or ecosystem restoration
• Field program design & delivery in diverse or remote environments
