IT Systems Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a IT Systems Engineer based in India.

This is a senior technical role focused on designing, managing, and securing complex IT infrastructures across multiple client environments.
You’ll act as a strategic technical consultant as well as a final escalation point for high-impact infrastructure and security issues.
The role combines hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualization, networking, backup, and disaster recovery.
You’ll lead major infrastructure projects, including server and cloud migrations, network transformations, and technology upgrades.
You’ll also proactively optimize environments, strengthen security standards, and help maintain reliable, high-performing systems.
Success in this position requires strong technical ownership, excellent communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to different client environments.
You’ll work in a client-focused, managed IT services environment where your technical decisions have a direct business impact.

• Lead the design and execution of complex infrastructure projects, including physical-to-virtual server migrations, Microsoft 365 and Azure migrations, and network transformations.

• Serve as the Tier 3 and final technical escalation point for critical issues involving servers, networking, infrastructure, and security.

• Proactively manage, maintain, and optimize client environments using RMM and PSA platforms, with a focus on reliability and high availability.

• Implement and enforce infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices, including MFA, endpoint detection and response, backup verification, and technical standards.

• Design, configure, and maintain virtualization environments, networking infrastructure, cloud platforms, and backup and disaster recovery solutions.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including client configurations, network diagrams, procedures, and operational runbooks.

• Partner with account managers during technical business reviews to assess technology lifecycles, identify risks, and recommend infrastructure improvements aligned with client objectives.

• Diagnose complex technical problems, take ownership through resolution, and provide clear recommendations to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Manage multiple client environments simultaneously while adapting to different technologies, operational requirements, and organizational cultures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, or similar infrastructure-focused role; managed service provider (MSP) experience is highly preferred.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Intune, as well as Azure services such as virtual machines, virtual networks, and Azure AD/Entra ID.

• Strong expertise with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V, including clustering and SAN management.

• Solid networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and business-class firewall technologies such as Fortinet, SonicWall, or Cisco Meraki.

• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Veeam, Datto, or Acronis.

• Familiarity with RMM and PSA platforms such as ConnectWise, NinjaOne, or HaloPSA.

• Strong troubleshooting, infrastructure design, security, and systems administration capabilities.

• Ability to move efficiently between different client environments, technical stacks, and organizational cultures.

• High level of ownership and accountability, with the ability to take complex technical problems through investigation, resolution, and follow-up.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts and infrastructure investments into clear business risks, benefits, and outcomes.
