Position Summary

The Regional Translator is a detail-oriented and culturally fluent German Language Specialist. This role will be responsible for facilitating clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication between our resort staff and German-speaking guests across two properties in Negril. The ideal candidate will possess excellent language skills, hospitality awareness, and a passion for enhancing the guest experience through meaningful, localized communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Translation & Interpretation

• Translate written materials such as brochures, menus, signage, promotional content, and digital assets from English to German and vice versa.
• Provide verbal interpretation during guest interactions, tours, meetings, and special events.
• Ensure consistency in tone, terminology, and messaging in communications.

Guest Experience Support

• Assist German-speaking and all other guests with inquiries, reservations, concierge services, and issue resolution.
• Educate guests on resort policies, activities, and amenities in their native language.
• Proactively identify and address language-related service gaps.
• Liaise with other departments to facilitate the smooth arrival and departure of guests.

Marketing & Content Localization

• Collaborate with marketing teams to adapt promotional campaigns and digital communications for German-speaking audiences.
• Ensure all content reflects the Couples Resorts brand identity while being culturally relevant.

Quality & Compliance

• Uphold brand and service standards by ensuring all translated materials meet quality and accuracy benchmarks.
• Review and revise outdated or unclear German translations across resort documents and digital platforms.

Qualifications:

• Fluency in both German and English (spoken and written) is required. Additional languages are a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of professional translation or interpretation experience; hospitality or tourism sector preferred.
• Strong intercultural communication skills and sensitivity to guest needs.
• Proficient with translation tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital content platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Jamaican culture and local dialects.
• Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and guest service protocols.
