Temporary Consultant Otolaryngologist (ENT)

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Temporary Consultant Otolaryngologist (ENT) to join our client’s multidisciplinary surgical team within the public acute hospital network.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Conduct outpatient consultations, inpatient rounds, and perform elective and emergency ENT surgical procedures across adult and pediatric populations.

• Surgical Expertise: Deliver care across core ENT domains, including head and neck evaluation, otology, rhinology, laryngology, and pediatric ENT interventions.

• Emergency Cover: Participate in the local consultant on-call rota for acute ENT emergencies and inpatient management.

• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise closely with Audiology, Speech & Language Therapy, Maxillofacial, Oncology, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine teams.

• Quality & Governance: Lead clinical audits, maintain patient care safety standards, and contribute to risk management and quality assurance programs.

• Teaching & Mentorship: Provide clinical instruction, mentorship, and supervision to NCHDs (Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors), surgical trainees, and medical students.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• MCI Registration: Inclusion on (or immediate eligibility for) the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland (MCI) in the specialty of Otolaryngology.

• Clinical Qualifications: Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS in Otolaryngology) or equivalent higher specialist surgical training qualification.

• Experience: Demonstrated high-level competency in elective and emergency ENT surgical procedures, clinical governance, and team leadership.

• Compliance: Up-to-date certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or equivalent, along with satisfactory occupational health screening and Garda Vetting (police clearance).
