Job Summary

A leading private hospital in the UAE is looking for an experienced Consultant Intensive Care Medicine specialist to provide comprehensive critical care to critically ill and complex patients. The role involves managing patients with acute and life-threatening conditions, providing advanced ICU interventions, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, evidence-based care.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in intensive care and critical illness management, with a recognized Western postgraduate qualification and experience in a tertiary, multispecialty, or leading private hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment and management of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Manage complex medical, surgical, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and multi-organ critical illnesses.
• Provide advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation, and hemodynamic support.
• Manage sepsis, septic shock, acute respiratory failure, cardiac emergencies, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Perform and supervise appropriate ICU procedures, including central venous access, arterial lines, airway procedures, and other critical care interventions.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring vasopressors, sedation, analgesia, and renal replacement therapy where appropriate.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide critical care support throughout the hospital.
• Work closely with surgeons, physicians, emergency teams, nurses, and other specialists through multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Participate in ICU rounds, treatment planning, and communication with patients' families.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to patient-safety and infection-control standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, and continuing professional development.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of ICU clinical protocols and evidence-based practices.

Requirements

• Medical degree with a recognized postgraduate qualification in Intensive Care Medicine/Critical Care Medicine, or an appropriate recognized specialty with accredited critical care training.
• Recognized Western qualification such as UK CCT/CCST, American Board, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Irish, or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Consultant-level experience in Intensive Care/Critical Care Medicine.
• Strong experience managing complex and critically ill patients in a hospital ICU setting.
• Experience with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, advanced airway management, and critical care procedures.
• Experience in a tertiary, multispecialty, or leading private hospital is preferred.
• Strong clinical decision-making and emergency management skills.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
