Specialty / Consultant Pain Medicine Specialist - South African Board

Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization in the UAE is seeking an experienced Pain Medicine Specialist/Consultant with South African Board qualification to join its multidisciplinary pain management team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist/consultant-level assessment and management of acute and chronic pain.
• Develop individualized, multidisciplinary pain management plans.
• Perform appropriate interventional pain procedures based on clinical expertise.
• Manage patients with musculoskeletal, neuropathic, cancer-related, and post-operative pain.
• Provide image-guided procedures where appropriately trained.
• Assess treatment outcomes and modify management plans as required.
• Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, neurologists, orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other specialists.
• Provide patient education regarding pain management and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
• Participate in clinical governance, teaching, audit, research, and quality-improvement activities.

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized South African Board qualification in Pain Medicine / relevant specialty with advanced Pain Medicine training.
• Relevant specialist/consultant-level clinical experience.
• Current specialist registration and good professional standing.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary or tertiary-care pain management service is preferred.
• Eligible for DOH/DHA medical licensing, depending on the location.
• Excellent clinical, communication, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
